Since ‘lockdown’ we have been unable to carry out the usual maintenance and oversight of our beautiful churchyard. Nature has had a chance to take over in some areas which is wonderful. Unfortunately, however, it appears that there have been visitors to the churchyard who, perhaps with misguided good intent have placed items there which are inappropriate.
Can we remind everyone visiting the churchyard that this is a consecrated burial ground where relatives may go to remember a loved one whose remains have been laid to rest.
This is a sacred space and precious to many.
As a consecrated burial ground of a church of the Church of England, it is subject to legal control of which adherence to the regulations is part https://www.stjameschristleton.org.uk/application/files/1015/7648/4955/Churchyard_Regs_2019.pdf
We ask that you respect this special space and adhere to the regulations
